Blog of the Week: Bayraider

Okay, I'm the first to admit I have an Ebay addiction. My thrift shopping nature goes into overdrive everytime I scroll through the amazing items that some people are willing to part with. But, just like any other high-tech gal, I like to streamline the whole searching-through-Ebay process to find that diamond in the rough. That's why I was in love when I found Bayraider. This fabulous blog trolls Ebay and then posts the best deals on girlie things like bags and shoes, gadgets, even celebrity stuff. Be warned: this site is addictive.

Another Free Friday!

I've been a little too crazed with work to post any new stuff this week--but that doesn't mean I would skip out on "Free Fridays". So, for all of you anxious readers ready to get your hands on some free schwag, I present to you a free lip color sample pack from Mark. I've never actually tried Avon's Mark line before, so I am interested to see how well these lipsticks work.

P.S. I promise to get back to a regular posting schedule next week.

A new spin on music

Fashion rut--Skim through an old Vogue magazine.

Cooking rut
--See what's going on over at Domestic Goddess.

Music rut???
That's when I turn to CD Baby. This fabulous independent music store has a great online selection of new artists. One of their best features is their "Sounds Like" search engine. Enter in the name of a famous artist whose music you love and they'll spit back a list of singers/songwriters whose albums you can listen to directly through their site. My new favorite find? Jess McDonough.

Free Fridays

Yes, I am *technically* writing this post on Thursday night. But, seeing as most of you check out my blog in the morning (yes, I look at my site meter), I figured I can get away with calling the post "Free Fridays". As part of a new feauture, I'll be posting a site each Friday that offers readers free samples of beauty or fashion products. (Who doesn't like something when it's FREE!)

To start us off, this week it's Oil of Olay and their Complete Defense Moisturizer product. I am a huge fan of this company-- and I figure with the weather warming up I should start getting in the habit of wearing sunscreen. (Yes, I know I should be wearing it all year round.)
Happy Friday!

I found my Springtime Bag

Have you seen that Kohler commercial where the couple walks into the swanky architect's office? As the builder is reeling off his fabulous resume, the wife whips out this gorgeous chrome sink faucet and tells him to build the house around it? Well, that's I feel about this Kooba leather braided bag. First I'll start with this accessory and then I'll build all my spring outfits around it. With a bag this gorgeous, I think it'll be hard to look that bad.

I am a magazine addict...

Two 1-hour trips on a plane and 10 (count that T-E-N) magazines later, and I am back in Boston. Okay, so it was really seven magazines and three catalogs--but I read the catalogs like magazines, scruntizing the descriptions of each and every item and languishing over the photos.

I've discovered that my magazine habit has turned me back to an oldie but goodie zine that I hadn't picked up in awhile...Jane. Maybe it's the change in Editor-in-Chief, but I really love the design layout and the new writers they've brought onboard. The sure-sign that a magazine is a keeper (in my eyes at least)... I kept the magazine the whole week, even after I tossed the remainders in airport lounges and on plane chairs.

Here's a Hint...

Fashion photography can run the gamut of thought-provoking and inventive to tired and duldrum. On one end, you have clothing catalogs whose sole purpose is to sell clothing. On the other end, you have the online magazine "Hint", which has taken the whole notion of fashion photography and turned it on its head. Their animated fashion stories are a multimedia extravaganza of music, color and design. Ever feel like fashion gets stuck in some sort of repetitive rut? Have faith and head over to Hint.
