Open for Business!

I have some BIG news for everyone. My love of all-things vintage has switched into high gear. I've swept up the sawdust, arranged the inventory and thrown open the doors--that's right...I have launched my very own online vintage clothing and accessory store, Far Too Cute Vintage

An edited collection of pretty vintage dresses, purses, skirts, shirts, and shoes debuts today. There, you'll find edgy, enchanting, and always unique vintage pieces that will be replenished every two weeks. So, please stop by and take a look around. I'd love to hear your comments!

P.S. Signing up for my newsletter will get you 20% off your first purchase (offer good until 6.10.06) plus future promotions and exclusive sneak peeks at new inventory before it goes up for sale.

Antique Market!

I am trying to bring my camera with me more on vintage shopping jaunts. Today, I hit up the Cambridge Antique Market. Lots of really cool pieces at uber expensive prices--I guess it's back to the flea markets and church sales for me. Anyway, here is a look at some of the stuff that caught my eye.

Free Fridays!

With bird flu, SARS, and other scary pandemics grabbing media attention--let's just say I'll be happy if I don't get the flu this summer. That's why I was pretty excited when I found this coupon for Tylenol Cold and Flu. Believe me, as a constant airline flyer who has sat one too many times next to a coughing, sneezing travler, this stuff does the trick.

Goings on Across the Pond

Some of my favorite things featured at Selfridges...

1. Lulu Guinness silhouette bath and bed linens.

2. Couture Couture party frock.

3. Small Paul Wellies for Kids.

Design Finds!

I love the feeling of accidentally coming upon notes on scrap papers, cut out magazine articles, or pieces of artwork that I had socked away long ago. And, in our ever changing digital world, I love it when I find a folder of pictures that I had saved from the internet. This folder was marked "Home Decor Ideas" and look what was inside!

1. I have a bit of an obsession with silhouettes. I love the contrast of these black and white pictures against the pink wall. What beauties!

2. I am a sucker for vintage tea cups. I think I probably add one to my ever-increasing collection about every two weeks. But until now, I had no great way of displaying my finds. This idea seems so simple--but brilliant!

3. Yes, this bathroom is over-the-top, but that's why it's genius. Bathrooms are small enough that you can decorate them in crazy wallpaper prints or paints. And, if you hate the decorating choices you made, it won't take years to make a renovation. P.S. I love the idea of a chandelier above an antique bathtub.

Shhh....It's a Secret Sale

I received a postcard from Barneys in Boston this weekend. They are having a secret sale, offering 40% on items all week long! As my credit card can't take the heat from anymore purchases this month, I'm leaving the job of finding some fantastic deals in your hands. Happy shopping!!

Hilfiger Lays the Smackdown

Apparently, Tommy's not the wuss I once thought he was...According to weekend reports, Hilfiger and Axl Rose got into a scuffle at The Plumme nightclub this past Thursday night. Witnesses say that Tom smacked Axl in the arm when the Guns 'N Roses star moved Hilfiger's drink. I don't blame Tommy for the catfight. I want to throwdown with Axl everytime I see him sporting those scary looking dreadlocks.

Free Fridays!

Finally, the sun has started to come out of hiding in Boston! What a dreary and miserable week it has been--but now with just a hint of sunshine people are breaking out their flipflops, miniskirt and even tank tops. A little premature in my mind--but whatever floats your boat! Anyway, with summer upon us, it's time to start thinking about sunscreen and Neutrogena is offering free samples of their Age Shield Sunblock. Enjoy!

Website of the Week: Dutch Trade Shop

Please don't call me a soccer mom, but I have been uber crafty these past weeks. Between the gardening, cooking, and sewing projects that I have taken on, I think I have turned into a crafting maniac. In my pursuit to find even more crafting projects to get my hands on, I found this super cute web store called Dutch Trade Shop. They sell the coolest iron-on letters and transfers. My mind is just spinning around all the fun things I could use them on.

Yeah for Summer Shoes!

I am so excited. I just got the newest Urban Outfitters catalog!! (Apparently it's not enough for me that I have multiple UO stores by me--I need pretty pictures of their product sent to my home as well.) Anyway, I fell head over heels (pun intended) over their shoes. Such a cute selection. For some reason, I never check out the shoes when I am in their store--I mean, I am just getting used to their homewares...But, these beauties will have me taking a second look, and maybe even trying them on, next time I drop by their shop.

1. T-strap heels for $60.00

2. Looks just like the Christian Louboutin ones, but for only $68.00!

3. If I was 3" taller, I'd snatch these up. Unfortunately, I am too short for flats. So, that means more of these cute peep toe ballet flats for you!

Free Fridays: Do NOT sign up for this one!

Poor ReNu...After the whole "eye fungus" scandal they're just giving away bottles of their contact solution. Don't they realize that even though the cost of contact solution is expensive these days--the cost of fixing a bum eye outweighs the freebie?? Don't go here.

Yes, I am Team LC

"The Hills" follows Laguna Beach's Lauren "LC" Conrad as she moves to L.A. to attend college at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchanising. In "The Hills", LC gets a job as an intern at Teen Vogue--and from what I can tell from the previews, breaks up with Jason. The show focuses on the never ending drama LC faces while she is trying to juggle work, school, and relationships. Premiering on MTV May 31st at 10PM. You know I'll be watching!

Free Fridays!

I end up travelling a lot for my job, so you can call me a bit of a hotel snob. 9 times out of 10, I hate the generic hair products that hotels stock in their guest rooms. So, whenever I can, I try to put samples of shampoos and conditioners that I like in my travel toiletry bag. When I saw that Herbal Essence was offering up free samples of their new "Hello Hydration" and "Body Envy" shampoo and conditioner on their website, I quickly signed up. No, it's not the most high-quality hair product out there, but it's better than the icky stuff that hotels try to pawn off on you.

Next weekend marks the launch of the ongoing weekend market in the South End that goes through October. Tak a stroll in the sunshine and find goods that you'll see nowhere else. Check out the site for a complete listing of vendors.

I Love Fashion Eye Candy

In a small attempt to cut down on my magazine purchases, I've turned to the web to scour for fabulous online magazines. And, I've recently hit gold. My new source for fashion inspiration is ZooZoom magazine. From fashion editorials to runways shows, ZooZoom's creative eye and unique sense of humor puts a modern twist on fashion photography. Their style teams and photographers take editorial shoots as seriously as the flashy glossies. In fact, dare I say, some of the work is better than the stuff I've seen in big name magazines. Just like ZooZoom says, "We think a good picture is a good picture, in print, online or on a wall." Cheers to that!
